Road Trip: Exploring Burlington, Vermont

Last weekend my family and I decided to take a road trip to Burlington, Vermont.  It was a perfect time to travel to Vermont since the leaves were starting to turn and temperatures were slowly dropping.  The purpose of the trip was just to explore the city, find some good food and coffee and enjoy experiencing a new place together.  When traveling with our toddler we try to find convenient hotels within walking distance to where we want to explore as well as restaurants and activities that are kid friendly.  This trip was a success!  We frequently walked to Church Street to enjoy Uncommon Grounds coffee shop, Lake Champlain chocolate shop and Farmhouse Tap and Grill restaurant.  Our hotel was also across the street from Lake Champlain, which was a perfect place to walk around and enjoy the scenery.  On Saturday morning we had breakfast at August First Bakery and enjoyed the Burlington Farmers Market.  Both fueled us for a morning drive to Shelburne Farms, a 1,400 acre working farm, forest and National Historic Landmark located only 15 minutes south of Burlington.  Once I discovered there was also a children’s barn with animals, demonstrations and playroom, I knew we had to visit.  It was the perfect way to conclude our mini-road trip and it exhausted our toddler enough for a long nap on the drive home.  I have provided links to all the places we visited if you would like more information or planning your own trip.  Enjoy the photo story below!
