California Feature: Mono Cone…New to Us, a Tradition to Them
Recently we went on our first camping trip in the Eastern Sierras at Silver Lake. We were invited by our long time friends The Ramunnis. Tuesday Ramunni has been camping with her family at Silver Lake since she was a baby…only missing a handful of summers. Tuesday’s dad started visiting/camping at Silver Lake since 1962, and shortly after Jerry married Tuesday’s mom, Rose in 1971, it quickly became their summer tradition as newlyweds. In exploring the surrounding towns, the family discovered Mono Cone in Lee Vining…a bubbling roadside diner serving burgers, shakes and ice cream cones. And so, another family camping tradition was born. The Morgans (and now Tuesday’s family and her sister Kim’s family) have been enjoying Mono Cone for the last 30+ years!
And this year, they introduced it to us! The burgers were delicious, the Mint Chocolate Chip shake was amazing and Jax loved his ice cream cone. Not only are we making the Silver Lake camping trip a summer tradition for our own family…we’re DEFINITELY making Mono Cone a tradition too!

Camping, exploring and getting dirty…three of Jax and Milisa’s favorites things! Making memories though is top priority. Knowing little ones grow up way too fast, Milisa tries to make as many memories as she can with Jax. And that usually means making memories in the great outdoors as a family…and with framily. Milisa is getting her teaching credential and currently in the student teaching phase, which is the last leg of her teaching credential. After having Jax, she realized how absorbent little minds were and wanted to make an impact.
